Flexible working hours/9-day fornight

For a real work/life balance many of our roles work flexible hours and included in our 9-day fortnight scheme. This means your ordinary fortnight will be made up of 9 x 9 hour working days with the 10th day off. Your day off will be a Friday. Not all roles are eligible for this benefit but is available for most employees after their first three months of employment is completed.

Annual fitness and wellness subsidy

Eastland Port will reimburse 50% of a sports club/gym membership up to the value of $250 or up to $250 for an activity which promotes fitness. This includes sports club subs, gym membership, yoga classes, swimming pool passes, and competitive events (eg. Marathons, Coast to Coast). We also have an on-site gym at the port for you to make use of.

4% KiwiSaver contribution

If a staff member contributes to KiwiSaver, all employers must match their contribution, up to 3%. However, Eastland Port goes above and beyond what is required and pays an employer contribution of 4%, if you are contributing 4% or more yourself. Eastland Group’s employer contribution is additional to your salary/wages, and is not included in your total remuneration. Eastland Group will also cover the associated tax costs on your behalf.

 

Other health benefits

The following free health checks are available annually:

  • Eye tests – Eye tests up to a value of $70 with an optometrist as well as the standard eye test that is part of a general medical.
  • Hearing tests – Completed with your medical.
  • Flu vaccines – Keep a look out for the email inviting you to get your flu jab.
  • Medicals – available annually.
  • Work environment review and desk chair etc – as required, or as offered via email opt in.
  • Skin checks – you can get a FREE skin check valued at $199. Or choose to upgrade to a full Mole Map for $250 (usually $399)

 

 

 

 

EAP Services

EAP workplace support is New Zealand’s leading employee assistance programme, offering world-class support to enhance staff wellbeing, development and performance. EAP will provide free assistance to staff and immediate family for a personal or professional situation which is affecting your wellbeing. This could be for stress, depression, anxiety, career planning, grief and loss, personal legal advice etc.

Staff insurance programme

All Eastland Port permanent staff (staff doing more than 15 hours per week on average) are included in our company-wide programme. The benefits of these policies are available to you and your whānau, and the premiums are paid for, in full, by Eastland Port. You will be provided with an updated certificate of insurance every year, which we suggest you file away somewhere safe.

Group Life Insurance

If your salary is $233,333 or less per annum, you will be automatically covered under this life insurance policy for 3 x your annual salary i.e. no medical evidence is required. You must be in permanent employment, working a minimum of 15 hours per week. 

Group Income Protection

If your salary is less than $160,000 perannum, you will be automatically covered for 75% of your income under this policy i.e. no medical evidence is required. 

Group Trauma Insurance

If you are diagnosed with any of the trauma events covered and provided you survive for 14 days (not on life support), a lump sum will be paid to you of $10,000. You must be in permanent employment, working a minimum of 20 hours per week.

As part of your employer insurance we offer Asteron which is available to you and your family (partner, children, and parents (incl. in-laws)). Asteron Life provides access to local and global experts, so whether you have a general question for a GP, need a global expert to provide a second opinion about a physical health concern, or need to discuss any aspect of your mental health with NZ registered mental health clinicians, they’re there to help.
